I would to say thank you to Sentient Fitness for encouraging my family and I through this journey that we’re on. I’m naturally a heavier person but I’ve done my best to be active and stay in decent shape. I am at a good enough shape where I can run at a decent pace (7min per mile for a few miles) or play basketball for several hours, but at 5’9 I felt like I was working too hard to maintain my weight of 205lbs. I also lifted weights, ate well, tried different types of eating like Keto and counting calories but nothing worked for long and it was hard to maintain. I had to have four surgeries within a two month span in the fall of 2016. I ballooned up to 230lbs, the heaviest I’ve ever been and with the assistance of my best friend, I was connected with Marcel at Sentient Fitness. He spoke to me about his lifestyle and how he is vegan and that he does calisthenics. I wasn’t sure if that was for me but by the end of our two hour conversation he made that way of life feel very attainable. I told my wife as she wanted to try it as well, so we did. Our goal was to eat mainly whole foods. We haven’t committed to becoming vegan, but it made us change the way we eat. It’s been four months. At this point we eat meat roughly once a week; everything else is fruits, vegetables and oats. We no longer stress about counting calories nor do we feel as though we survive to eat. We eat to survive now, meaning it’s no longer a tedious task and the foods that are better for us are tasting better. This is a journey and not a race, so one day we maybe able to go full vegan but for now we are happy where we are in our journey. I’m down to about 195lbs, mainly doing calisthenics and I am probably in the best shape of my life (which is crazy because I’m about to be 31 years old). My wife has gotten great results as well but for her it’s more about not having the stress of keeping track of what she eats. She’s able to enjoy food without the guilt. We also have a 16 month old and we are able to share this experience with him as well. He eats how we eat and hopefully starting this young he’ll be able to avoid the bad habits we had growing up and have a better understanding on what’s good for his body as he develops. We get his blood work done periodically and he’s at optimal health. This is a lifestyle for us now and we thank you Sentient Fitness.
I decided, I needed that essence, I wanted just a little of what they had. I kept asking Terence and Marcel for advice concerning my diet and how to transition my diet. They listened to my issues and guided me to eating conscientious mindfulness. I even asked Marcel to come to my doctor’s visits so he could hear what the Doctor had to say. He agreed to come to the Doctor, this way they could get a better understanding of my health issues. We discussed what the Doctor had said. I then asked them to PLEASE HELP ME with my transition for a better lifestyle and health. They said yes and this is the essence of Sentient Fitness.
The transition began and I can say with them being so hands-on with me, the focus was not just on my transition but also on how I was truly feeling and providing an avenue to enable me to deal with my situation. They not only taught me how to heal with the foods but they taught me how to help heal myself with my thoughts and speaking about my emotional distress. They taught me its’ all about letting that energy flow by learning the ability to open up and look at your current situation and know that this is a trail will get better, as long as I believe and continue to.
